Horses galloping across the snow, players competing under the winter lights and Mont Blanc rising in the background: in January, Courmayeur becomes the spectacular Alpine stage of the Italia Polo Challenge.

From 7 to 10 January 2026, the prestigious polo circuit returned to Courmayeur for its second winter edition. At the Entrèves sports field, six international teams competed in a fast-paced three-on-three format, bringing together players from several countries for four days of sport and entertainment.

Snow gives polo an entirely different dimension. Played on a smaller arena than traditional polo, the format places particular emphasis on speed, agility, strategy and the close relationship between horse and rider. Against the dramatic backdrop of Mont Blanc, every match becomes as much a spectacle as a sporting competition.

The experience extends well beyond the arena. The event begins in the heart of Courmayeur with a parade of the teams along Via Roma, bringing horses and players into the centre of the village. Over the following evenings, qualifying matches and finals are accompanied by music and opportunities for spectators to gather around the Polo Lounge.

This combination of sport, elegance and lifestyle feels particularly at home in Courmayeur. The destination has long cultivated a distinctive approach to mountain life, combining a strong Alpine identity with Italian hospitality, gastronomy and style.
