Hahnenkamm Races

Every January, Kitzbühel becomes the centre of the skiing world. The Hahnenkamm Races bring together the world’s best Alpine skiers, thousands of spectators and an entire town around one of the most iconic events in winter sport.

From 18 to 24 January 2027, Kitzbühel will host the 87th edition of the Hahnenkamm Races. First held in 1931, the event has grown into one of the great classics of international Alpine skiing, with generations of champions writing their names into its history.

At the heart of the legend is the Streif, one of the world’s most demanding downhill courses. Starting at 1,665 metres, racers tackle 860 vertical metres of extreme terrain, spectacular jumps and technically challenging sections. At the Mausefalle, one of its most famous passages, the gradient reaches 85%, while speeds on the course can approach 150 km/h.

Winning here means something special. The Hahnenkamm Downhill is a test of technique, courage and commitment, while the historic Ganslernhang provides the stage for another great Kitzbühel tradition: the slalom.

But the Hahnenkamm is much more than a race. For an entire week, the event transforms Kitzbühel. Fans gather in the finish area and throughout the historic town centre, while public race-number draws, prize-giving ceremonies and celebrations bring athletes and spectators together.

The 2027 programme will once again feature the major World Cup disciplines, with the Super-G, the legendary downhill and the slalom, alongside training sessions and a programme of events throughout the week.

Few events express Kitzbühel’s identity so powerfully. Combining sporting excellence, history, passion and Alpine lifestyle, the Hahnenkamm Races embody a destination where skiing is not simply a sport, but part of its culture.

On the Streif, legends are not remembered. They are made.
