Every year, the village of Megève lights up to celebrate the arrival of the festive season and the start of winter. On 5 December 2026, residents, visitors and families gather in the village square for the Christmas tree lighting, one of the most eagerly awaited events of the season, for locals and visitors alike.
Much more than just a ceremony, this moment marks the start of the Christmas spirit. As night falls, the atmosphere in the village gradually changes: the façades light up, the decorations sparkle and the Christmas tree becomes a meeting place for people of all ages.
Whether with friends, family or a partner, everyone comes to stroll around, share a moment of conviviality and soak up the atmosphere, amidst the decorations, music and entertainment. Beyond the evening itself, the Christmas tree lighting sets the tone for the weeks ahead: illuminated alleyways, decorated shop windows and culinary delights to share.
