Alpine World Ski Championships

Forty years after an unforgettable chapter in Alpine skiing history, Crans-Montana is preparing to welcome the world once again. From 1 to 14 February 2027, the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships will bring the world’s best skiers to the heart of the Swiss Alps.

The return has a special significance. In 1987, Crans-Montana hosted an edition of the World Championships that became part of Swiss skiing legend. Exactly four decades later, the destination and the Valais region are preparing to become the epicentre of world skiing once again.

Over 14 days, athletes will compete for 11 world titles across the major Alpine disciplines. Speed specialists will take on downhill and Super-G, while technical experts will battle for glory in giant slalom and slalom. Team events will add another dimension to a programme designed to showcase Alpine skiing at its highest level.

At the heart of the competition are the legendary Mont Lachaux and Nationale slopes. Already familiar to World Cup athletes, they will provide the stage on which a new generation of champions will write their names into skiing history.

But Crans-Montana 2027 will extend far beyond the finish line. The entire destination is preparing for two weeks of celebration, bringing athletes, international visitors and the local community together. Ycoor will become a central meeting point, with entertainment, fan experiences, medal ceremonies and celebrations accompanying the sporting programme.

This combination of elite sport and shared experience reflects Crans-Montana’s long relationship with Alpine skiing. The destination has continually developed its sporting heritage while remaining a place where mountain lifestyle, hospitality and spectacular scenery are an essential part of the experience.

In 2027, past and future will meet on the slopes. Forty years after 1987, a new generation will have its own opportunity to make history.
