ZERMATT, SWITZERLAND Zermatt is a piece of real Switzerland with traditional fivestar hotels, comfortable holiday apartments and typical local people. The Matterhorn is unique, but not alone. It has brothers and sisters: 37 mountains of over 4000 metres tower above Zermatt. Three panoramic viewpoints above 3000 metres can easily be reached by rack railway, underground funicular railway or Europe’s highest aerial cable car. The air is dry and clear here, and the village in the mountains of theValais has always been strictly reserved for pedestrians. 365 days of snow – something that exists in Zermatt alone. More than half of the slopes are snowcovered or on glaciers. Snow is therefore absolutely guaranteed in Zermatt. The winter season on more than 300 kilometres of slopes starts as early as mid-November and extends into the beginning of May. |
