GRINDELWALD, SWITZERLAND Grindelwald (1034 m) is the superlative winter sports location and also the largest ski resort in the Jungfrau region. With the three areas of First, Kleine Scheidegg-Männlichen and Mürren-Schilthorn, Grindelwald provides unlimited fun on the slopes for skiers and snowboarders alike. There are a total of 213 kilometres of prepared ski slopes and 44 chair lifts available. However, non-skiers also get more than their money’s worth in the Eiger village: 80 kilometres of winter footpaths and 60 km of toboggan runs are waiting to be discovered. In summer, there are more than 300 kilometres of signposted footpaths and cycle paths available around Grindelwald. Along the way, comfortable mountain restaurants offering a variety of culinary delights invite you in to to rest and enjoy. Numerous cable cars and buses take guests from the village into the mountains and to the peaks. An experience of a special kind is the excursion to the highest railway station in Europe: the Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe (3454 m), in the centre of the world of glaciers and mountains in the UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site Jungfrau-Aletsch-Bietschhorn. |
